Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is not just recommended but is an absolute necessity for our Langtang Valley with Gosainkunda Lake Trek. We will be crossing Laurebina Pass at 4610m with the possible day hike to Tsergo Ri at almost 5000m. We would want to have a travel policy explicitly extending towards the 5000m undertaking.

The most critical feature of travel insurance is emergency helicopter evacuation and emergency medical expenses. In Nepal, that could cost up to 10,000 USD in remote regions. Without comprehensive travel insurance, you could face devastating financial loss during such unforeseen events. Travel insurance is not only a safety net but is also a friend in need that could save you big bucks. We recommend that you choose a reputed insurer that provides the helicopter evacuations and trekking up to 5000m plans.

Essential Information

Best Time for this trek

Spring (March to May)

Spring is one of the best times to embark on the Langtang region. This season acts like the mountain’s grand reopening after the end of winter cold. From March to May, the lower trails are painted in vivid shades of pink, red, and white by Rhododendron blooms. This season will offer moderate temperatures and stable weather conditions. However, there are chances of passing showers in the afternoon or evening. On the other side, spring will be the best chance to witness elusive wildlife like the red panda and various migratory birds. The afternoons will be gloomy and misty, but the mornings will provide the spectacular visuals of the snowy mountains. For the trekkers who appreciate floral beauty and a sense of renewal, the spring season is perfect to set foot on the Langtang Valley with the Gosainkunda Lake trek.

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn is widely celebrated as the trekking season in Nepal. This season offers VIP seating for the world’s best mountain show. The post-monsoon air is washed clean of dust and pollution, providing exceptional visibility and crystal clear mountain views. The deep blue skies will provide a sharp high-definition contrast against the white peaks of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. The weather in this season will be remarkably predictable and dry, which means we have the best chance of safest and most comfortable journey. Beyond the extraordinary climate, the festivals like Dashain and Tihar will make our trek culturally immersive. However, there will be more crowds than in other seasons, so secluded space might not be possible.

Challenges of the Langtang Valley with Gosainkunda Lake Trek

The major challenges that can occur in the Langtang Valley with the Gosainkunda Lake Trek are significant altitude gain and physically demanding sections. We will cross the Laurebina Pass at 4610m, which presents a real risk of Acute mountain sickness if not cared for properly. Trekkers must navigate steep sections and rocky descents in the unpredictable mountain weather. The combination of thin air and relentless elevation can change our experience to a moderately strenuous one.

Recommended Remedies

  • We should utilize the short trekking days and built-in rest days in Kyanjing Gompa to allow ourselves to adjust to the higher elevations.
  • We must drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily to help combat altitude sickness and maintain oxygen levels.
  • Having quality gear and versatile layered clothing will be a great idea.
  • You should focus on cardiovascular fitness and leg strength at least two months before the expedition begins.
  • Professional trekking agencies like Nepal Travel Experiences provide essential safety support and offer valuable navigation.
BOOK THIS TRIP
" I highly recommend anyone to use Nepal Travel Experience.

They organised a trek to Langtang and Goseikunda for me last minute. They gave me a lot of support, advice and some necessary trekking equipment. Most importantly they gave me their time to discuss and listen to my questions and needs given my first time in the himalayas.

The trek was an experience of a life time. On top of that I learnt a lot from them about Nepal.
