We will have ascents and descents alongside the roaring Modi Khola river. We will be passing through the small settlements like Bamboo and Dovan. Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is a mandatory document for high-altitude trekking in Nepal, such as Annapurna Base Camp.

A comprehensive travel Insurance acts as a safety net for our “Express Annapurna Base Camp Trek”. This itinerary involves a rapid ascent to 4130m, and the risk of Acute mountain sickness increases.

In some unfortunate events of severe altitude sickness and a physical injury, the only way out of the Annapurna Sanctuary is via emergency helicopter evacuation.

Such emergency helicopter evacuations can cost a traveller upwards of 5000-7000 USD.

Beyond the medical emergencies, a comprehensive travel insurance will help against the losses in trip cancellations, lost baggage, and flight cancellations.

While purchasing the policy, you must ensure the travel insurance covers trekking up to 5000m and includes “search and rescue” and “emergency medical coverage” clauses specifically.

Travel insurance is a small investment for a massive covering to potential loss of our hard-earned savings.

Challenges of the Express Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The Express Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a test of your physical endurance. The major challenge of this trek will be rapid altitude gain. We will get to the highest of 4130m from about 830 in Pokhara in the span of three days. This transition is considered huge if you are a beginner trekker.

Another major challenge of this trek is the long trekking hours on steep climbs and the grueling stone stairs of Chhomrong. Variable mountain weather and cold temperatures will further intensify the physical toll.

Pro Remedies

  • Trekkers are recommended to drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily and prioritize high-carb meals like Dal Bhat. This will help maintain energy levels.
  • We must maintain our pace regulation in a slow and steady mode. Rushing will increase exhaustion and altitude sickness risks.
  • Consult a doctor about Diamox(an anti-altitude sickness tablet). If you are cleared, then you should take it.
  • Use high-quality trekking poles and boots to reduce the impact on our knees during the 2000m descent. Pack lightweight and moisture-wicking layers.
  • One must engage in cardio and leg strength training for at least 4-6 weeks before the trek to prepare their legs for the vertical terrain.
