Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is not just highly recommended for the Annapurna Circuit for 2026 travel. It is a mandatory requirement for obtaining trekking permits. This route crosses the high pass of Thorong La and Tilicho Lake at around 5000m altitude. Your policy must cover high-altitude trekking up to 6000m. Having a comprehensive travel insurance will help in emergency helicopter evacuation, which can cost between USD 5000 and 10,000 per evacuation.

In the remote regions like the inner parts of the Annapurna Circuit, helicopter evacuation to Pokhara or Kathmandu remains the only emergency medical response in severe cases. That's why we highly recommend having travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation, altitude sickness, and hospital bills. This will help you feel secure about yourselves and enjoy the trek at full motion.

Essential Information

Best Time for this trek

Spring: The Season of Renewal (March – May)

The spring season promotes a sensory masterpiece for the travellers who seek adventure travel in Nepal. The major reward of this season along the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek route is the stunning floral display. The lower hillsides of the Annapurna region will come alive with the massive rhododendron blooms. As we climb up north, the melting winter snow also unveils the shades of green pastures and revitalized waterfalls. This will be an amazing introduction for you as a newcomer in Nepal. On the other hand, the temperatures are moderately warm at the lower altitudes and make for comfortable daytime walking. The clear morning will offer sharp Himalayan mountain views, along with the predictable afternoon clouds rolling in. This is the perfect season for nature lovers who want to soak in the views of the Himalayas. You will also be rewarded with some local wildlife emerging as the landscape wakes up from the winter slumber. Also, longer days give you more time to enjoy the trail and rest at teahouses.

Autumn: The Gold Standard (September – November)

Autumn in Nepal is the peak trekking and tourism season. This is mainly due to the season’s offerings of the most stable and perfect weather for high-altitude trekking. After the monsoon rains clear the atmosphere of dust and haze, we will be rewarded with the sharpest visibility of all. We will get the most perfect and picturesque views throughout our Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek. The season will be better and more beneficial for the safe crossing of the Thorong La Pass. The trails this season will be generally dry, and the weather is also stable for most of the season. Also, there will be a cultural angle to the trekking. As autumn is the festive season in Nepal, we might get an opportunity to celebrate the festivals like Dashain and Tihar with the locals, along with a deep, authentic look into Tibetan-style culture and traditional mountain life. However, being the most favourable trekking season, there will be more crowds than in other seasons.
