Gokyo Lakes trek introduction
You do not have to do the Everest Base Camp trek specifically to see Mount Everest. There are other choices, like the Gokyo Lakes trek, that also offer jaw-dropping views of Mt. Everest and other 8,000-meter peaks.
The Gokyo Lakes trek perfectly balances busy trails and peaceful strolls. You will have the best of both worlds on this trek. The bustle of Lukla and Namche Bazaar will fill your heart with love, companionship, and contentment.
Likewise, once you leave Namche Bazaar behind, you will enjoy a serene environment. There will be fewer trekkers on the trail. You will have ample time to unwind and rejuvenate. Sceneries get raw and peaceful.
The Gokyo Lakes are the world's highest freshwater lake systems and a Ramsar site. There are 19 Gokyo Lakes spread between 4,700 meters and 5,000 meters, of which 6 are the main lakes.
The Gokyo village is located near the 3rd Gokyo Lake (Dudh Koshi Lake). On the way to Gokyo village, you will walk past the 1st and 2nd Gokyo Lakes. While acclimatizing in Gokyo village, you can hike to the 4th, 5th, and even 6th Gokyo Lakes.
